Development of small and medium Entrepreneurship

The city of Otočac pays special attention to the development and revitalization of the economy in its area, which is based on the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Strategy, and represents the basis for any other form of activity aimed at stimulating economic growth and development. The small economy and especially crafts have favorable conditions for further development, and in addition to traditional crafts, the need for modern service crafts and a significant number of deficient trades, which should be covered by new crafts, and these should be the champions of the future development of the small economy, are growing more and more. , especially crafts.

From 2000 to 2004, the City of Otočac, through its own budget funds and the funds of the Ministry of Crafts, Small and Medium Enterprises, through cooperation with Erste - Steiermarkische bank, realized 94 business credit requests with a credit potential of HRK 16,000,000.

By lending to production activities - trading companies and craftsmen, agricultural farms and the development of tourism on family farms, the fundamental tasks of economic development were achieved, which are visible (94 positively evaluated loan requests and 104 open jobs) Development of rural tourism on family farms and the use of available natural resources potential for engaging in ecological agricultural production of healthy food, hunting, fishing, sports, recreational, excursion and other forms of rural tourism, with good road connections and proximity to already known tourist destinations (Plitvice, Senj, Crikvenica, Rab, Krk, Rijeka) would complete tourist offer of the city of Otočac and the Republic of Croatia.

The Small and Medium Enterprise Development Program, the economic analysis, and the accepted strategy for the development of small and medium enterprises established the Action Plan for the realization of the Otočac Business Zone. The business zone is located along the main road D50, Žuta Lokva - Otočac - Gospić in the eastern part of the city at the ŠPILNIK location, with an area of ​​130,000 m2 with associated infrastructure, the distance from the Otočac junction to the Zagreb-Split highway is 5 km, and the distance from the Ličko Lešće railway station is 8 km. We emphasize that it can be further expanded if needed by the user.
